PERFORMANCE
The world of dog sports is an excellent avenue for developing a bond with your dog. Performance sports provide both mental and physical stimulation for you and your dog. The AKC offers many different sports such as Confirmation, Obedience, Rally, Tricks, Agility, Tracking, Field Work, Lure Coursing, FAST Cat, Scent Work, Field Work, etc.
If your dog likes the water and retrieving then Dock Diving is for you. North America Diving Dogs (NADD) works with the AKC to title your dog in dock diving.
Therapy work is another path to take if you are interested in working with giving back to your community. There are countless opportunities for therapy work once you have completed the training and certification process. There are many organizations that offer certification. You just have to decide what works best for you and your dog. Sage and I are certified through Therapy Dog International.
I love the Performance Events! Our dogs get to try out many different events and activities because we love to work with our dogs, travel, see new and old friends, and meet different breeds. Our dogs participate in Conformation, Obedience, Rally, Dock Diving, Air Retrieve, Tricks, Therapy, Tracking, and Lure Coursing. Currently, I have put 84 titles on our dogs.
